Artist’s Inspiration: “ I have been infatuated with sandhill cranes since we saw the giant birds out the back window of my grandmothers car in Wheeling, Illinois when my sister was too little to see what I was squealing about (which made it a little better I hate to admit:) I love their melodic calls, their dances, their markings, and their unique silhouettes in flight. They also mate for life and represent longevity. This first painting of my next series is about finding the joy and play and fun during this next stage in my life. Times of transition are about returning to yourself. Remembering your passions, and finding new ones. I used new painting tools including a fluorescent paint stick to draw parts of this piece- and it is amazing how much that action brings me back to the feeling of being a child- and to JOY. The energy I am sending to the recipient of this painting is “don’t forget to play”. <3
